Services were held Tuesday, January 29, at the United Methodist Churc h, Clarion. Rev. LaVonne Kaasa officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service. Buri al was in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. Willim Funeral Home of Clarion w as in charge of arrangements. Mel Robie was born January 27, 1913, in Blairsburg, the son of Cyruss a nd Pearl (Stafford) Robie. He graduated from Blairsburg High School and at tended Hamilton Business College. Mel and Vivian Flurer were married June 25, 1934. They movedto Caspe r, Wyoming, and spent four years there before returning to Ames in 1938, w here they operated a grocery store for two years. They then moved to Gilmo re City and operated a grocery store for two years. They moved to Clari on in 1942 and opened Robie's Super Valu, which they owned and operated un til he retired in 1977. He was a member of the United Methodist Churc h, a chartermember of the Clarion Lions Club, a 50 year member of the Mas onic Lodge, anda member of many other local organizations. Mel is survived by one son, Tom Robie and wife, Maxine of Holstein, o ne daughter, Patricia Meyer and husband, Richard of Gowrie; five grandchil dren; nine great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Helen Morr is of Clarion. © Wright County Monitor 2002 | ROBIE, Millard (I107531)
