Born on March 15, 1931 in Schenectady, a son of Clayton and Elizabeth (Matula) Stafford, he attended Schoharie and Duanesburg Schools. In his early years, Bob was a wonderful musician playing the sousaphone and trumpet, he also enjoyed fishing and had a green thumb for plants. 
Robert worked in maintenance at Proctor's, Union College and Rands, all in Schenectady. He was predeceased by his wife Lois J. Treessee Stafford, his mother and father and brothers Ronald, Allan, Doug and Jimmy. 
He is survived by his brother Frank (Rosalie) Stafford of Scotia, one son Joel Stafford of Rotterdam, two daughters Vivian Stafford of Schenectady and Elizabeth (Kevin) Madelone of Central Bridge, grandchildren Robert A. Stafford, Heaven Puleski, Bernie Madelone, Joel Stafford Jr., Luisa Stafford, and Kevin Madelone, Jr., and great-grandchildren Kayla and Destiny.
