Notes

James Stafford, MD, physician and druggist.Born September 25,1811 in Baltimore, Maryland.
In 1820 went to Adams County Penn:,thence to Petersburg, Virginia, while there commenced the study of medicine under Dr. John W. Moore.
In 1832 he was engaged in the boot and shoe business.
in 1846 he moved to Lewistown,Logan County and engaged in the practice of medicine,after two years he went to Huntsville,in Logan County.
In the fall of 1852 he went to Muscatine County,purchasing a farm in the township,continuing to pratice medicine and farm till 1871 when he rented his farm,moving to Nichols and engaged in the drug business in connection with his profession.

He married Miss Mary A. Roller of Springfield,Ohio on July 31,1834, she was born April 21,1817 and died on January 17,1846.

He married again Mrs Hannah Corwin, nee Dickinson, on April 29,1846,she was born December 28,1818 in Licking County Ohio and had three Corwin children at the time of her marriage to James Stafford, Martin, Rosella and Martha A..
Dr. Stafford had four children by his first wife, Freeman, Amanda, Edward and Andrew J. , he lost two children Anna and Sarah,by his second wife, and had five living Mary A.,Caroline,Thomas,James and Julia A. -- lost two William and Samuel:

Edward and Martin served in the war in Company G. 2nd I.V.C., Andrew J. served in the 35th I.V.I.. Its believed that Dr.Stafford was a Democrat.
