Flint Journal Obituary:
George E. Daly-Of Flint, age 94 passed away, Friday July 23, 2004 ....George was born June 25, 1910 in Birch Run, MI., son of the late Charles and Bessie (Carpenter) Daly. He resided in the Clio and Flint areas. George married Theda I. Stafford August 6, 1938 and she preceded him in death November 27, 2002. George graduated from Clio High School in 1928, Central Michigan Unibersity in 1933 with a B.A. and Wayne State University in 1943 with a M.A. He had done additional study at the University of Michigan. He taught one year in Isabella County MI and was head of the school of Pine Run MI from 1933 through 1937, School Superintndent for Kearsley Community Schools from 1937 through 1970. He organized Boy Scout Troop 121 in 1937. He was Scout Master for many years, and on the Scout committee for 35 years. He was a member of the Welfare Masonic Lodge #517, Bay City Consistory and Michigan Education Association. He had been a member of Lions Clubs Internation since 1953 and served as District Governor of 11-D and Leions Indernational Director 1968-1970. George was a past president of the AAA School Masters Leions luncheon club and served as a member on the board for Leader Dogs for the Blind for many years. He was a charter member of Calvary Presbyterian Church where he served on the board of Trustees and the Building committee. George is survived by his beloved daughter Ruth (the late Glenn) Livingston of Clio, grandson Brian (Cynthia) Kitchen of Flint; several nieces and nephews. DALY, George E. - Of Flint, age 94 passed away, Friday July 23, 2004 at the home he shared with his grandson and granddaughter-in-law. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday July 26, 2004 at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 6100 Richfield Rd., Flint. Rev. Harold K. Polk Jr. officiating. Entombment will be in Flint Memorial Park. Mr. Daly will lie in state at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 E. Davison Rd., where the family receive visitors 11-4 and 6-9 PM Sunday. Memorial Services will be conducted Sunday evening by Welfare Lodge #517 at 7 PM and by East Flint Lions Club at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church, Leader Dogs for the Blind, East Flint Lions Club, George E. Daly (Kearsley) Scholarship Fund.
