Obituary:
- Kenneth Eugene “Moose” Stafford was born January 14, 1920, on the family farm near Mallard the son of Earl and Hilda (Larson) Stafford. He attended Mallard High School.
Following his education, he entered the United States Army where he served during World War II.
On November 26, 1948, Kenneth was united in marriage to Alice Howard in Iowa City, Iowa. He worked at the Mallard Creamery before going into farming with his brother, Wesley. Kenneth was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mallard. He enjoyed horseshoes, softball, ping-pong and golf. His passion was baseball. He was well known in the area for his long hits and many home runs.
On Sunday, March 21, 2010, Kenneth Stafford passed away at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Alice; six children: Jinner and husband, Jim Studer of Mallard, Nancy and husband Dr. Wendell Davis of Overland Park, KS, Richard and wife, Diana of Mallard, Iowa, Daniel and wife, Lois of Great Bend, KS, Peggy and husband, Paul Reinhart of Albany, MO, and Mary Stafford and friend, Frank Gotts of Mallard, IA; a niece, Sandi and husband, Keith Wirtz of Mallard, IA; four sisters: Arlene Hinrichs of Fairmont, MN, Ruth Bemrich and husband, Dale of Belmond, IA, Margaret Hinrichs and husband, Bill of Fairmont, MN, and Dorothy Lyon and husband, Kenneth of Mallard; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Robert and David Stafford; brother, Wesley Stafford; and his grandson, Joseph Stafford.
Throughout Kenneth’s life, his gentle love and kindness touched many who met him and knew him.
Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mallard, Iowa. Burial is in Ellington Township Cemetery, Mallard. Military Rites will be conducted by Anderson-Eckert-Hersom American Legion Post 345 of the American Legion.
