  Worcester Telegram & Gazette (MA) - July 25, 2001 Page B4 Kenneth W. Shiatte, 69 GLENMONT, N.Y. -- Kenneth W. Shiatte, 69, of Glenmont, formerly of Webster and Oxford, Mass., a retired transportation department worker, died Sunday, July 22, while vacationing in the Adirondack mountains. He leaves his wife, Norma (Jewell) Shiatte; a daughter, Jane Fisher of Delmar; and two grandchildren. A son, Wayne Shiatte, predeceased him. He was born in Laconia, N.H., son of Chester and Doris Shiatte, and was raised in Oxford. He earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from WPI, Worcester, and a Bureau of Highway Traffic Certificate from Yale University. Mr. Shiatte worked for the New York State Department of Transportation, where he was assistant commissioner for engineering and chief, retiring in 1998. He started working for the California Division of Highways in 1953 and then spent two years with the Army Corps of Engineers and then two years as a traffic consultant before joining NYSDOT in 1962. He enjoyed hiking. The funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, in Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 26, in Mount Zion Cemetery, Webster. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, in the funeral home.
