- Walter Williams Coombs inerited the home of his grandfather Walter
Williams in the bi spring area of Larue County, Kentucky. A large house
constructed of logs in the dog-trot fashion, it faced the road across from
the family cemetery, today known as the Coombs-Williams Cemetery in Larue
County, Kentucky. Walter Williams Coombs joined the Confederacy and
served until his death in 1862. The circumstances concerning his death
are unknown to the author; however, it seems possible he died in the
service of the Confederacy. His will was written on May 2, 1857 and was
probated in Larue County Court on June 23, 1865. Of primary importance in
his will was his desire that money from his estate be used for the
education of his children.
