Obituary:
J. F. HELVIE SUCCUMBS AT RESIDENCE IN TROY
Funeral Will Be Held At Late Home Tuesday Afternoon With Burial in Riverside Cemetery
J. F. Helvie, 72, who resided on South Market street was claimed by death at 10:25 Saturday evening after having been an invalid for the past 30 years.
The decedent was born at McKendrie Chapel, near New Carlisle, on Dec. 22, 1854. The last 28 years of his life had been spent in Troy.
He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Viola B. Helvie, and one brother, A. M. Helvie, who is at present in California. Several nieces and nephews are also living.
Mr. Helvie was a member of the First Methodist church and the Odd Fellows Lodge at New Carlisle.
The funeral services will be held from the late residence at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Rev. George B. Farkin, of the First Methodist church, will be in charge of the rites and will be assisted by Rev. E. T. Waring, former pastor of the First M. E. church. Burial will be made in Riverside cemetery.
