"***STAFFORD, MRS. DOLORES MAREE (KIRBY), age 80, formerly of Dayton passed away Thursday [19 Feb 1976] in Detroit Mich. after a long illness. She was born in Lovell, Ohio, March 15, 1895. She was the last of a family of 12, born to John & Olive Kirby. She came to Dayton at a very early age and worked as a telephone operator and as a seamstress of fine furs.
She married the late Grant C. Stafford of New Carlisle, O. Nov 6, 1913, and came to Dayton in 1916. In 1959 they moved to Carey, OH, and in 1962 they moved to Cape Cod, Mass. to be with their daughter & her family. In 1963 the family moved to Detroit, Mich. Mrs. Stafford was among the first group of patients in the country to have a pacemaker implanted at Ford Hospital in Detroit in 1963. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy H. Hager, 2 grandchildren, George David Hager of Livonia, Mich. & Mrs. Carolyn Renaud (Hager) of Pontiac, Mich., 4 great-grandchildren: David & Stephen Hager of Livonia; Michelle & Jimmy Renaud of Pontiac. Several nieces & nephews: John & Edward Long of Akron, OH & Cuyahoga Falls, OH; Mrs. Maxine Tracey of Washington C.H., OH; Mrs. Leone Wolfe of New Vienna, OH, & Mrs. Alma Kauffman of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Funeral services 10 a.m. Monday [23 Feb 1976] at the Tobias Funeral Home, 648 Watervliet Av. [Dayton, OH]. Interment New Carlisle Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home."
