- Then Henry filled one out for Blanchard Colding, another great, great grandfather. Blanchard was born in Barnwell County, SC., November 1756, and died there in July 1816. "He was a private in the South Carolina Army. In 1786 he received 3 pounds and 2/10 sterling for his services. As a private he took part in a number of engagements in the Black Swamp region on South Carolina which lies between the Savannah River and Charleston. Blanchard Colding and his wife are buried in a cemetery on the old Colding plantation about 5 miles from Allendale, SC. I cannot give the exact dates as nearly all of the family Bibles and records were destroyed by General Sherman's men on their march to the sea".
