Colombia, SC January 21, 1903 I hereby certify that the Revolutionary Records of South Carolina show that William Stafford was a South Carolina soldier in the Revolution, and was places in command of the troops on the Black Swamp, near the Savannah River.

My ancestor's service in assisting in the establishment on the American Independence during the War of the Revolution were as follows: Holding a commission as Lieutenant Colonel, he was placed in command of the South Carolina troops on Black Swamp near the Savannah River in the year 1781.
I cannot give exact dates as it's family records were destroyed in the War between the States.
