Death of Gilbert Lynde
Gilbert David Lynde, 82, a well known citizen of this town, was found dead at the home of his son Charles Lynde of West Leyden, late Monday afternoon, on the son's return from a hunting trip. Mr. Lynde was in excellent health when he retired at night and his son did not disturb him when he started out early in the morning on a deer hunting expedition, but on his return, not finding his father about, went to his room and found that he had died during the night of heart failure.
Mr. Lynde was born in Halifax, Vt., but had lived at Green River Vt., for several years coming to Colrain about 35 years ago, and has since made his move here. For the past 10 years since the death of his wife, he had lived alone at the Four Corners in East Colrain, but of late had been spending the nights at the home of his son. He was a carpenter by trade, but had also engaged in farming.
He is survived by three sons, Bert G. Lynde of this town, Charles of Leyden, and Cleveland of Bernardston, and one daughter, Mrs. Louis Miller of East Colrain, and a half brother in Green River, Vt. The funeral will be held at East Colrain tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock and burial will be in the Hindsburg (sp) cemetery, Guilford, Vt.
