Obituary:
His obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, July 17, 1952.
James I. Stafford, 84, a retired grocer, died Sunday afternoon in his home at 404 South High Street, Carrollton after an illness of three weeks. A native of Lodi, New York, he was the first manager of the A & P store in Carrollton, a post he held 12 years. He lived here 34 years, coming from Jamestown, New York. He was a member of Carrollton Methodist Church and the Orange Lodge, F. & A.M., of Leesville. He and his widow, Mrs. Hattie Stafford, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year.
Other survivors include a son, Lee E. of Carrollton; a daughter, Mrs. Roy Sparks of Canton; a brother, John D. of Rochester, New York; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Services were conducted on Wednesday at the Allmon Funeral Home. Rev. Clarence M. Yates officiated. Burial was in Westview Cemetery.
