- Edward and Freda
Added by dresslerus on 15 Jan 2009
Edwards and Frieda's 1924 marriage is a log cabin honeymoon in the woods that turns into "Surprise Honey your home!"
Edward Stafford looses his mother, his number one cheer leader, this same year. Plus he has a spoiled rich girl for a wife no doubt complaining at their living conditions and lack of prosperity.
The marriage is doomed and soon Frieda takes off with little Donnie back to Spokane.
"He’s a Hermit Papa! It was terrible!"
Edward never does really recover from the loss of his mother and the failure of his marriage. The once described so proudly, Edward the "radio technician" by his mother the census taker slips into oblivion.
For Frieda things are good back in the fold under Papa's wing.
Frieda meets Bee the divorced with 2 kids dashing fireman, he’s good man and a fireman too. Papa is somewhat pleased and buys them a house near by and a car to make sure this marriage works. Thomas cuts the back off the new gift car and makes it a pickup to carry his bee hives around. How about BBQs on the front lawn with his firemen buddies, egad! The neighbors are shocked. The perfect tamed over sexed Wildman for Freda.
This marriage works.
Don tells me he was often embarrassed by Bee and his behaviors as a child.
When Bee would drive him to school he would hide down on the floor boards least anyone see him in the car, now a truck. However Bee was a good Dad and in the end that is all that matters. Grandpa, Christ Fieser, who acted as Dad for a few years was very strict in that German way but should be credited too.
Christ drove Donald to Oregon to see Edward once at about age 10 the only time Dad would remember him. Fieser drove to a tavern and telephoned him, telling him he had one hour to visit Donald starting now. So Dad really saw Edward for only about 10 minutes. They had nothing to say to each other. What could you say. Christ said it is important that Donald should at least meet his father once to know of him.
There are no pictures of Edward as Freda pretty much blotted him out of all memory forever.
