- Note: Smith was a carpenter; he served as a private in the Civil War, Co. C, 16th New York Volunteers. In 1900 Elvira was living at #9 Lorain Street, Plattsburgh, New York. He died of "consumption" according to Death Certificate, State of New York-Bureau of Vital Statistics. They are buried in West Platsburgh Union Cemetery. From the Plattsburgh Sentinel, Plattsburgh, New York, issue of Friday, 25 January 1922, "DIED - FORDHAM-At the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. N. Dominy, 11 Loraine Street, Mrs. Elvira Fordham, aged 82 years. Funeral was held Thursday at two o'clock in the Wesleyan church, West Plattsburgh."
