  Tim Stone died on Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 961 on November 23 1996. The plane was scheduled to fly from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Instead, it was hijacked and crashed into the Indian Ocean. He was supposed to have made the trip earlier, but his work caused him to delay the flight by one day, a delay that cost him his life. Tim had spent the last three years of his life as executive director of PATH Canada, Program for Appropriate Technology in Health.
