  Diana Stafford Callian wrote: I am looking for information on a James Stafford born in SC abt 1800 married to Jane Stafford (brn abt 1799). There were at least 3 sons, one named William, Jake and the third may have been Thomas. They came through the Carolina Mountains to GA and the brother Jake froze to death in the mountains according to family story. We have a census showing James and Jane living w/William (born abt 1828 in NC , he married an Elizabeth Auburn) and his family in 1880 in north Ga. The census shows James and Jane being born in SC, but we have no connection to his parents at all. Census: 1850. Listed as James Stafford, a blacksmith, with wife Jane and sons William, Joseph B. and John. 1860. Listed as James Stafford, a farm laborer, with wife Jane. Next door is Jacob Stafford age 68 b. SC, a colier. 1880. Listed as James Stafford, a blacksmith, with wife Jane - Living with son William. His parents state of birth, unknown.
