Obituary -- Bosseck
Lafontaine Pioneer Passed Away Monday, June 6th
Christian P. Bosseck, son of C. P. and Elizabeth Bosseck, was born July 20, 1849, near Ladoga, Ind., and passed away Monday, June 6, 1927, aged 77 years.
He early moved to Illinois with his parents living there until in early manhood when he came to Wilson co. Kansas, where he has continuously resided except for about one year when he lived in Missouri.
He was married May 28, 1876, to Mary Catherine Stafford and to this union were born seven children, one dying in infancy. One son, Lorame [sic] gave his life in the World war October 1, 1918, on the battle field of France. Those surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Mary Bosseck, Leroy, of Lafontaine, Mrs. Clara Redmond [sic], of Parsons, Mrs. Etta Cunningham, of Independence; Mrs. Katie Bennett, of Lafontaine, and Mrs. Bessie Bowen, of Independence; also 22 grandchildren and three great grand children.
Mr. Bosseck was a good citizen and neighbor and a kind and loving husband and father.
Coming to Kansas when the state was new and the soil virgin he gave his full share of toil and service for the development of those things which make the home and community a better place in which to live.
The experience through which he passed in the early days of Kansas were many and varied, and his passing brings to the living, the debt of gratitude we owe to the pioneer settlers who have so nobly done their part.
Services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Christian church conducted by C. O. Wilson, pastor of the Fredonia Christian church. Burial was in the Koger cemetery.
