  A Stafford from Stafford Society Branch 006.   There were no Staffords in Cabell and Wayne Co.s Virginia in 1850 and 1860 but there were two brothers, James Stafford Jr. and Ralph Stafford in Cabell Co. in 1840.  They were sons of James B. and Abigail Lewis Davis Stafford.   I’d bet on Ralph as he was married with children in 1840, not married in 1850 and remarried in 1860.  Thank you so much for all your work! I will definitely follow up on these leads. Ralph does seem like the likely one.   FYI: One of our researchers, Lynda, is a descendant of John D.Blankenship,son of Jesse Blankenship and Margaret Stafford. John Blankenship was the father of at least 5 of Matilda Toppings' other children. Lynda is having a DNA test run on one of her male relatives who is also a direct descendant of John Blankenship. Her theory is maybe John Blankenship was actually a Stafford. She is convinced that John Blankenship is the father of ALL of Matilda Toppings children. This is the story told to her by  a woman named Valeria, one of the grandchildren (she was in her 80's or 90's in a nursing home at the time) of John Blankenship. We don't know if the info is true or just heresay.   It will be nice to know the results of the Blankenship DNA test.  My other researcher Emily Topping, join the Stafford Society. She emailed me today, that she hasn't received any replies yet. But I will forward the info you sent me to her.   Thank you again, TeresaClark
