Obituary published in Winona Times, Jan 1, 1932:
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Frances J. Carter Sunday afternoon at Scotland. The Rev. H. L. Villee conducted the services.
Mrs. Carter passed away at the home of her son, G. W. Carter, near Winona, December 26. She was 79 years of age. The deceased is survived by two sons, J. R. Carter, Kosciusko and G. W. Carter, Winona; five daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Blaylock, Duck Hill; Mrs. Jennie Hatchcock (sic), Winona; Mrs. Kelly Carter, Lake Field, Texdas; Mrs. Florence Orr, Winona; and Miss Belle Carter, Winona.
Mrs. Carter was a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church, having held her membership there for more than 45 years. She was the daughter of the late John Stafford, one of the founders of the Presbyterian Church at Scotland.
The funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Winona Undertaking Co.
