  Howard Lynn Mayberry - Springfield News - (Jan/20/2005) Howard Lynn "Lynn" Mayberry 1942-2005 Howard Lynn Mayberry of Springfield died Jan. 14 of cancer. Mr. Mayberry was 62. He was born April 21, 1942, in Ashland to Howard H. and Mary Louise (Roberson) Mayberry. His very early years were spent in Dunsmuir, Calif. In 1946 the family moved to Portland, where he participated in youth baseball and Boy Scouts. He moved to Eugene in approximately 1956 and graduated from North Eugene High School. Mr. Mayberry became the third generation of his family to work for Southern Pacific Railroad. He was interested in the early history of railroads in Oregon. His other great interest was travel, and his favorite destination was Iceland. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Sandra and Martin Croney of Bend; his brother and sister-in-law Duane and Carrolle Mayberry of Springfield; nieces and nephews; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial will be at noon on Saturday, Jan. 22, at Major Family Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Major Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
