Funeral services for Mrs. Velma Harris Bowman, 95, of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on June 16, 2010, at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community of Jackson County, TN.

She was born January 20, 1915, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Pole and Mary Whitaker Harris.
On December 25, 1932, she was married to the late Zollie Bowman, who passed away June 23, 1978. She was a factory worker, and a member of the McBroom Chapel Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her Step-Mother: Eula Godsey Harris; 4 Sisters:Mattie Stewart, Hattie Chaffin, Mary Jo Lawson, and Louise Haney; and 2 Brothers: Cordell Harris and Roosevelt Harris.
Survivors include 1 Son: Jesse (Verlie) Bowman of Cookeville, TN; 2 Grandchildren: Larry Bowman and Lisa (Barry) Gambrell, all of Cookeville, TN; 1 Great-Granddaughter:Shannon Gambrell; 1 Brother: James (Sally) Harris of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Sister: Jean (Harlen) Haney of Cookeville, TN; and several nieces and nephews. . . .
