GAINESBORO -- Funeral services for Jo Helen Hammock, 74, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Cookeville.

Mrs. Hammock died Monday, July 21, 2008, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 28, 1933, in Jackson County to the late Sam and Hallie Stafford.
Mrs. Hammock was a nurse's aide at the former Cookeville Nursing Home. She was a member of Shiloh Church of Christ.
Her family includes three sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie R. and Kathy Hammock and Mark and Shelia Hammock, all of Cookeville, and Ronnie and Shelia Hammock of Baxter; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Albert Brown of Gainesboro, and Kathy and Lloyd Phillips of Cookeville; four brothers, George Stafford of Bloomington Springs, Jack Stafford of the Highland Community of Jackson County, Paul Stafford of Gainesboro and Daniel Stafford of Baxter; four sisters, Bonnie Phann and Sarah Harp, both of Baxter, Frankie Keith of Nashville and Janie Uhles of Gainesboro; eight grandchildren, Tracy, Jessica, Vanessa, Stephanie, Travis and Kellie Hammock, Terry Brown and Renea Burris; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, P.J. Hammock, who died May 17, 1992; a brother, Sam Dowell Stafford Jr.; and a sister, May Mayberry.
