The funeral for Mrs. Dorothy Stafford Dennison will be today (Friday) at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Jackson, Tenn. Rev. Chuck Williams will officiate. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Michael Dennison, Bryan Dennison, Derek Yandell, Chesley Dennison, Lee Yandell, Jacob Yandell and Caleb Dennison. Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Gardens, Jackson. George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel, 2812 N. Highland Ave., Jackson, is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 119 Oil Well Road, Jackson, Tenn., 38305.
Mrs. Dennison, 86, Jackson, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital, Jackson. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Mary Martha Sunday School Class for more than 50 years. She had worked for Dr. Henry S. Powers, DDS until 1944 and retired from Jackson State Community College. She was married to E.W. Dennison Jr. in 1944 when he returned from serving in World War II and he preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1988.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Ann Yandell and husband, Rik, Jackson; four sons, Mike Dennison and wife, Judy, and Phillip Dennison and wife, Charlotte, all of Jackson, Steve Dennison and wife, Amy, Nashville, Tenn., and E.W. Dennison and wife, Tara, Murray, Ky.; two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Matlock and husband, Buford, and Mrs. Rosemary (Patty) Moore and husband, James, all of Jackson; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
