I was born in 1895. Dad’s name was James Daniel Harmon and mom’s was Nancy Annie Grimes. I had 10 brothers and 3
sisters and their names were Willy, John and George, Jim, Les, Emmett, Teenie (John) and Oliver. (Two others died as infants).
The girls were Berthie, Stellie and Effie.

Ex-Douglass Resident Dies
Mary E. Barker Jessup, 88, Arkansas City, formerly of Douglass, died Feb. 18 at a nursing home there.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Douglass Cemetery. Dr. Theodore Jacobs will officiate. She was born March 19, 1895 in Dixon, Mo., to James and Nancy Oxendine Harmon. She married Wade R. Jessup Oct. 6, 1942 in Winfield. He preceded her in death in November of 1983. Survivors include sons, Henry H. Barker of Arkansas City, Norman D. Barker of Winfield, Jack H. Barker of Lincoln, Ark., and J. D. Barker of Canehill, Ark.; daughters, Naomi Nichols of Tucson, Ariz., Phyllis Keim of Redlands, Calif., and Nancy Sullivan of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Emitt Harmon of Sun City, Ariz.; 27 grandchildren and 47 and two great-great-grandchildren. Hilyard - Smith Funeral Home in Douglass is in charge of arrangements.
