Bernice Pippin 1926-2009 Obituary
Funeral services for Bernice Marie Pippin, 82, of Noble, were held Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with Halbert Smith officiating. Burial was in the Franklin Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Pippin died Feb. 14, 2009, in Springfield. She was born Aug. 5, 1926, in Wilhoit, the daughter of James Kelly and Nancey Geneverie (Harley) Thomas. She and Hershel Pippin were married on Dec. 24, 1943, at Hammond.
She continued to live on the family farm after her husband died, hunting and fishing, and raising a garden every year. She was a member of Barron Fork Church of Christ, which her dad helped to build.
Mrs. Pippin is survived by one daughter, Joyce McGill and husband, Ron, of Fordland; one son, Donald Pippen and wife, Julie, of Gainesville; five grandchildren, Kelly Pippin, Timothy Pippin, Billy Pippin, Jeremy Kolaks, and Josh Kolaks; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alvis Thomas of Souder and Alvin Thomas of Wasola; two sisters, Elsie James of Ozark and Gay Burke of Raymore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel; her parents; and six brothers and sisters, Archie Thomas, Elve Hill, Stella Frazier, Bonnie Thomas, Lena High, and Alton Thomas.
