Dodele, Shirley Ann 74 7/12/1934 2/23/2009 Shirley Ann Dodele, a resident of Beaverton, passed away on Feb. 23, 2009, after battling cancer for more than a decade. She was 74 years old. Shirley was born July 12, 1934, in Klamath Falls to Marvin and Huldah Pippin, and also lived in Corvallis and Independence, where she graduated from Central High School in 1952. Shirley married Richard H. Dodele of Independence on Aug. 9, 1953, and they lived in Grants Pass and Redwood City, Calif., before settling in Beaverton in 1966. Richard and Shirley were married for 55 years. Shirley is survived by her husband, Richard H. Dodele; son and daughter-in-law, Richard M. and Kristina Dodele of Portland; granddaughter, Alyssa Rose; two sisters, Barbara Krauss of Grants Pass and Carol Bolinger of Douglas, Wyo.; and one brother, James Pippin of Portland. Another grandchild is expected in May. Shirley was employed at U.S. Bank for 29 years, and managed the Greenway branch. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling, shopping, dancing and gardening. She traveled to Europe, New Zealand, Mexico, Canada, and throughout the Western United States. Shirley and Richard were active members of the Beaverton Elks Club, where they frequently danced and visited with their many friends. Despite the continuing cancer treatments, Shirley remained energetic and positive, living a full and active life until recent months. She will be missed and remembered with warmth and love from her family and friends.
