- Mrs. Ruth Margaret Stafford, age 89, Limestone, passed away Friday, July 9, 2010, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Stafford was a native of Washington County and daughter of the late H.P. & Estelle Dotson Squibb.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stafford was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, A.J. Stafford; one son, Terry Stafford; two infant brothers; and a brother, Carl Squibb.
She was a member of Oakland Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School Class. Mrs. Stafford was a member of Bowmantown Home Demonstration Club, enjoyed playing rook, camping with her husband, A.J., and going to the Jonesborough Senior Citizens Center. She was a substitute teacher for the Washington County School System. She was an election worker for Washington County for over 50 years and was a proud Democrat.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy & Gippy Martin, Limestone; grandchildren, Jeff Martin, special grandchild Melony Martin and Greg Stafford; great-grandchildren, Kelsey & Kamryn Martin, Abigail & Adam Stafford; brother, Freddy Squibb; daughter-in-law, Connie Stafford; sister-in-law, Stella Hodges; many cousins, several nephews, nieces, many friends and 89 ducks & geese.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Oakland Cemetery with Pastor Robert Grimes. Pallbearers will be family & friends.
