Buried:
- Berl E. "Pod" Clark, 89, of Greenup passed away at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Effingham.
Funeral services celebrating Berl's life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bishop Funeral Home, Greenup, with Pastor Brooke Davis officiating. Burial will be in Greenup Cemetery, Greenup. In loving memory of Berl, Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Berl was born May 30, 1921, in rural Gila, the son of Cuba and Mary Lucille (Griffith) Clark. He married Ruby Irene Coverstone and later married Wanda Stafford in 1985, and she preceded him in death on June 27, 2010.
Berl was a farmer, truck driver and had been a warehouse clerk. He had been a member of the teamsters union and enjoyed square dancing and traveling to Texas every winter.
Berl is survived by his children, Lloyd L. Clark of Decatur, Harold "Punk" (wife, Patty) Clark of Dalton City, Johnnie B. (wife, Karen) Clark of Knoxville, TN, Carl L. (wife, Diane) Clark of Decatur, Dean A. Clark of Decatur; son-in-law, Clyde Schwengel of Oreana; sister, Katherine Cox of Fresno, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Lois Schwengel; one grandchild; and two sisters, Dorothy Robinson and Ruth Clark.
