- Sickness and death seem to be working sad havoc among our aged men and women in this county. From time to time we have noted the death of the brave pioneers of the State, and now it becomes our duty to mention the death of Daniel Eggleston, of Rochester. This sad event occurred on the 15th inst. The deceased was in his sixty-ninth year, having been born in 1805, and first came to this State in 1825. Mr. Eggleston seemed within a few days of his death to be in the best of health, and was suddenly attacked with pleuro-pneumonia, which gradually grew worse, till death released him from pain. He was sick but about five days. Mr. Eggleston leaves a numerous family to mourn his death. IL State Journal, Springfield, IL 1-22-1875
