Dorothy "Barbara" Walters of Warrenville.
Memorial service for Dorothy "Barbara" Walters (nee Stafford), 73, will be held at 2:30 p.m. today, at Warrenville Bible Church, with the Rev. David Anderson officiating. A luncheon will follow the service. Born Dec. 13, 1930, in Aurora, the daughter of Edward and Marie Dorrance Stafford, she died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, in Warrenville. Interment will be in Warrenville Cemetery. Barbara attended Holmes School in Warrenville and Wheaton Community High School. She graduated in 1948 from Madonna High School in Aurora. Barbara was united in marriage to James R. "Bob" Walters on June 2, 1951, at the Community Baptist Church in Warrenville. In 1952, Barbara and Bob welcomed daughter, Linda Marie, followed by daughter, Mary Frances. Following Bob's service in the Army, they made their home in Warrenville. They moved to Whittier, Calif. in 1962 and lived there, due to Bob's employment, until 1966. Along with caring for her family, Barbara was a homemaker and was employed at George Ball in West Chicago. In addition, she was a longtime employee of Warrenville Bank & Trust, retiring in 1993. Barbara enjoyed crafting, sewing and cooking and most of all, helping and caring for family and friends. She also enjoyed the Jolly Holly Craft Bazaar held annually at the Community Baptist Church in Warrenville. She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and the Warrenville Historical Society Museum Guild. Barbara is survived by her husband, James R. "Bob" Walters; daughters, Linda (Philip) Spicer of Warrenville and Mary Walters of Warrenville; granddaughters, Jessica (Matthew) Banaszek, Kathryn (Daniel) Leonard and Rachel Pavel, all of Warrenville; grandsons, Philip Spicer of Montgomery, Ill. and Erick Pavel of Warrenville; great-granddaughters, Ava and Ella Banaszek of Warrenville; sisters, Betty (the late Emil) Sipla of Florida and Beverly (the late Rudolph) Lea of Warrenville. Barbara is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Stafford and her infant brother, Leslie Stafford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CNS Hospice, 690 E. North Ave., Carol Stream, IL 60188; or the Warrenville Historical Society Museum Guild, 3S530 Second St., Warrenville, IL 60555. Arrangements were made by Leonard Memorial Home, Warrenville.

Her paternal grandparents were Thomas H. and Rose Caroline (Cusig) Stafford. Her maternal grandparents were William C. & Sarah Dorrance. Her siblings: Mary Elizabeth (Sipla), Beverly (Lee), William, & Leslie Hayes (b.1925 d.1925).
