- MUNCIE--Kenneth O. Stafford, 95, passed away Saturday evening, October 15, 2011 at the Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born October 25, 1915 in Alexandria, the son of Arthur and Hazel (Cassel) Stafford.
Mr. Stafford is a 1935 graduate of Muncie Central High School. Kenneth married the love of his life, Hazel (Huffman) Stafford, in Muncie on July 3, 1936 and she preceded him in death September 11, 1996.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a private for "A" Squadron with the Army Air Corps. Later he would work for Delco Battery and Borg Warner prior to becoming the owner and operator of Kenny's Floor Covering from 1957-1968.
In 1962, Kenneth and Hazel moved to Tucson, Arizona, and would later move back to the Muncie area in 1992. Mr. Stafford received the Governor's Award for being in business for 50 years. He is a former Mason with the Muncie Lodge and enjoyed golfing.
Survivors include his son, Ron Stafford (wife-Linnet), Daleville; his daughter, Susan Freeman (husband-Dick), Daleville; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; his companion, Lois Metzger, and all of her caring family; and a care giver, Dawn Gibbs, Parker City.
Besides his beloved wife, Hazel, he is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Virgil, Bill, Norman, and Gerald Stafford.
A memorial service and inurnment with cremated remains will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2011, 11 a.m. at the Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Gary McManus officiating. Parson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
