- ELWOOD — Betty Jean Brummet, 81, of Elwood, went to her heavenly home on Feb. 15, 2009, at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital.
She was born Oct. 26, 1927, in Elwood, the daughter of Lester and Vera (Price) Stafford.
She married Ora "Herb" Brummet on July 21, 1946, and he passed away Jan. 25, 2006.
She worked at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital for many years and was retired from Paradise Valley High School in Phoenix, Ariz. Her greatest loves were playing bingo, going to shop at Goodwill, her grandchildren, and getting to know her great-grandson Christian Morgan.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda and husband John Simmons of Elwood; three sons, Herb and wife Donna Brummet of Elwood, Steven Brummet of Elwood, and Jerry and wife Charlotte Brummet of Anderson; six grandchildren, Johnathon Simmons of Elwood, Lori Simmons of Elwood, Jason Brummet of Elwood, Amanda Maddox of Texas, Kyleigh Brummet of Anderson and August Dean Brummet of Arizona; a sister, Ruth Harris of Elwood; and three brothers, John Stafford of Elwood, Danny Stafford of Marion, and Earl Stafford of Frankton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Gary Dean Brummet; two sisters, Isabelle Scholl and Carolyn Shaw; and a brother, Harold Stafford.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dunnichay Funeral Home with the Rev. Matthew Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
