He was 86. He was a teacher who coached tennis and basketball from 1951 to 1957. He became director of health education and welfare for L.A. County in California from 1958 to 1979. Born July 4, 1925, in Crawfordsville he was the son of Frank and Juanyta Stafford.? He graduated from Tech High School in Indianapolis in 1943, Indiana University with degrees in history and speech in 1950, then a masters in education in 1951. He obtained a masters in public health and education in 1958 from Cal-Berkley and certificate in archaeology in 1981 from UCLA. Survivors include his companion, Norma; daughters, Kristi Teeple of Alisa Viejo, Calif., and Sandy (Michael) Toppen of Huntington Beach; two grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
