Laura Louise Stafford
Hope
Laura Louise Stafford, 95, of Hope died at 8:10 a.m. Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Miller's Merry Manor.
She had been a homemaker for the last 60 years and was previously employed at Hope State Bank and the Hope office of Public Service Indiana. She was a 1927 graduate of Hope High School.
Her primary interest was her large family, but she was also an accomplished seamstress, embroiderer, bridge player and pianist and played piano for the silent movie theater in Hope during the 1920s.
She was a member of Hope Methodist Church, a charter member of Rho Chapter of Kappa Kappa Sigma sorority and a member of Esther Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and A.F.E. Club.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with the Revs. James Hicks and Ron Thomas officiating. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday.
Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.

Mrs. Stafford was born Sept. 6, 1909, in Hawcreek Township, Bartholomew County, northeast of Hope, the daughter of Clint Girton Blades and Ola Edna Ray Blades.
She married Byron Jerome Lorts in 1934. He died in 1939.
She married Charles Robert Stafford June 13, 1945. He died March 1, 2000.
Survivors include a son, Carl Stafford of West Lafayette; daughters, Nancy Gilliland of Columbus and Ann Hedrick of Hartsville; sons-in-law, John Gilliland and Marvin Hedrick; a daughter-in-law, Linda Stafford; grandchildren, Joy Hicks of Green Bay, Wis., Sharon Gilliland-Sauer of Indianapolis, Beth O'Brien of Bargersville, Rebecca McClung of Martinsville, Cristina Coner of Trafalgar, Angela McKinney of Osgood and Andrea Hedrick of Nashville, Tenn.; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Kenneth, Edward, Harold and Lewis Blades.
