- Curtis R. Ford, 48, Seaboard Coastline Railroad engineer, died early Saturday morning in a local hospital after a long illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Waters Funeral Home by Dr. Edward L. Byrd and Rev. John M. Harris. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be R. Vaughn Clarke, William Marshall, Z.T. Ford, W.B. Moore, W.s. Taylor Jr. and Jack Fowler. Honorary bearers will be members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Jack Wilkinson, Frank M. Gandy, J. Guy Tippins, Kenneth Morton, Pete Sanchez, and Hubert E. Yarborough Jr.
Mr. Ford, a life-long citizen of Florence, was a son of Vera Ratcliffe Ford and the late Blanchard F. Ford. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Angelyn Stafford Ford of Florence; a daughter, Mrs. Sara A. Ford of White Water, Wis.; a son, Curtis R. Ford Jr.; the mother, Mrs. B.F. Ford of Florence; a sister, Mrs. Vera F. McIntosh of Florence; and a brother, Dr. B. Fred Ford Jr. of Maxton, N.C.
