  His obituary found in The State 19 November 1965: Funeral services for Clifton V. Mims will be at 3:30 p.m., Friday at Thompson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Mr. Mims, of 2121 Virginia Ave., SW, Washington, formerly of Columbia, was killed in an automobile accident Monday afternoon near Chattanooga, Tenn. His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Sprott Mims, was also killed. Active pallbearers will be C. Belton Mims, Belton Lee Mims, Kenneth Lee Mims, Donald Ray Harmon, Herschel N. Mims and Harold Lee Mims Jr. Note: his middle name comes from his WWI Draft Registration Card.
