Charles Stafford of 509 Seminole Trail, Danville, was born on Oct. 2, 1931 to the late Clarence N. and Emma Durham Stafford. He departed this life at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington on April 17, 2014 at the age of 82 years, six months and 15 days of age. Charles is survived by his wife, Madelle Lucas Stafford; four children, Michael Stafford (and his wife, Donna) of Danville, Elaine Stafford of Lexington, David Stafford (and his wife, Tish) of Danville and Randall Stafford (and his wife, Marnita) of Danville; four grandchildren, Rebecca Mink (and her husband, Adam), Jarrod Stafford (and his wife, Olivia), Kevin Stafford, and Tara Stafford; two great-grandchildren, Gracie Lynn Mink and Emma Kate Mink; a brother, Billy Stafford of Stanford; and two sisters, Alene Bastin of Danville and Margaret Hodges of Terrace Park, Ohio. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Stafford; and two sisters, Maxine Floyd and Helen Carman. Charles was a member of the United States Air Force, serving our country during the Korean War. He was a farmer and a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. Charles will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Burial was on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Middleburg Cemetery in Middleburg. Pallbearers were Kirby Carman, Steven Floyd, Tommy Hodges, Curtis Lucas Kenneth Lucas and Steve Woehler. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Wardrip, John Earl Stevens, Thomas L. Godbey, James Lewis, Bennie Gilbert, James Turner and Charles Yankey. Military rites and taps were given at the grave site. Bartle Funeral Home Liberty was in charge of arrangements.
