Dorothy Garland "Dottye" Stafford, 86, of Leonardtown died Aug. 7, 2011, at home.
Born Sept. 13, 1924, in Hammond, Ind., she was the daughter of the late William M. Garland and the late Mary M. Saffer Garland.
She grew up in Fancy Farm, Ky., and was a resident of Hilton Head Island, S.C., for 34 years and Leonardtown for six years.
She graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Memphis, Tenn., in 1955.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Christi Case Swinney; and siblings, Margaret Ross, William Garland, Roseanne Thomas and Sister Joan Marie Garland.
She is survived by her daughter, Genise Burch Rondina of Leonardtown; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Lucille Carrico, Louise Carrico, Marilyn Miller and Ellen Forrester, all of Mayfield, Ky., Teresa Desai of Indianapolis, Bobby Garland of Murray, Ky., Joe Garland of Lone Oak, Ky., and Judy Elliott of Fancy Farm.
