Notes |
Belva Mae Hawkins, 73 of Hanover, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 23, 2009, from Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born on September 18, 1936 at Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Don Stafford (Deceased) and the late Naomi "Oma" Byrd-Lester-Green-Stafford-Vance (1912-1991).
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband, Roger Clifford Hawkins (Died in 1977); an infant son, Marvin Odell Hawkins (Deceased); and two sisters: Dena Stafford-Hurley (1930-1977) and India Stafford-Lee (Deceased); and her step-father, Jesse "Bug" Vance (1914-1998).
Belva was a loving companion, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She loved to cook and enjoyed feeding everyone and she made sure no one left her home hungry. She also loved to clean. She was a retired factory worker for Owens Illinois Glass, and was a member of the Iaeger Church of Christ. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to love and cherish her memory are: her two loving daughters: Jonie (James) Hawkins-Goodman of Hanover and Kelli Hawkins of Charleston; her dear brother, Darrell Stafford of Hanover; her three precious grandchildren: Chase Lester and Ethan and Kaley Goodman, all of Hanover; her companion of 27 years, James "Jim" Vance of Hanover; a special niece, Crystal Maynard of Hanover; and a host of other dear family and friends.
