Lancaster newspaper clipping, unknown date:
"George R. Witwer, 71 years, 2 months, 2 days, Narvon R2, died Sunday evening in the General Hospital where he had been a patient since Thursday. He retired from the Post Office Department in 1962, after carrying mail from Narvon Post Office 43 years. He had also been a farmer and retired from that occupation in 1962 also.
Witwer was a member of the Home Department of the Bridgeville Evangelical Congregational Church. He was a member of the National Letter Carriers Assn., the Beartown Sportsman's Association and the Buck-I-Hunting Club in Potter County. He was also affiliated with the Kettle Creek Sportsman's Association in Potter County.
Survivors included his widow, Blanche E. Stafford; five daughters, one son; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Daniel Burkholder, New Holland. Funeral from the Edward C. Weaver Funeral Home, New Holland, on Wednesday with the Rev. William Kochel officiating."

"Born in East Earl Twp., he was the son of the late George D. and Catharine Witman Witwer. There also are these five daughters and one son: Irene M. Styer, Ephrata; Dorothy, wife of Martin Laukhuff, Blue Ball; Hazel, wife of Clyde Houck, Paradise R1; Betty, wife of John L. Diem, Gordonville, and George R. Jr., Ephrata. There are 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Daniel Burkholder, New Holland, R1."
