Richard E. Stafford, Sr., 81, passed away December 27, 2012 in his residence.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Clarence C. and Dorothy V. (Becker) Stafford. He was also the husband of Virginia E. (Morgan) who passed away March 7, 2003.
Mr. Stafford was a 1949 graduate of Reading High School and also proudly served in the US Navy. He was employed at NGK Metals for 32 years, retiring in 1986. Richard later went on to work for the Reading School District for 10 years where he was a bus driver and custodian.
Richard was a member of St. Paul's UCC in Fleetwood. He was a member of American Legion Post #625 in Fleetwood, a member of USS Wisconsin Association in Norfolk, VA, and served as Financial Secretary and in various other positions with Union #2317.
Survivors include 4 children: Richard E. Stafford, Jr. of Wyomissing, Roger A. Stafford, husband of Marcia Stafford of Sinking Spring, Patricia L. (Stafford) wife of Jeffrey Swavely of Denver, Stacey E. (Stafford) wife of Christopher Jackson of Dallas, TX and 5 Grandchildren. Other survivors include 3 brothers: Stewart Stafford of West Reading, Charles Stafford of Wernersville, Clarence Stafford, Jr. of Sinking Spring. He was preceded in death by Brother Robert Stafford.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday 9:00-10:00am at the funeral home
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 10:00am at Bean Funeral Homes, North 16th & Rockland Sts. Reading with Rev. Patrick W. Morris officiating.
Burial with graveside service will be Thursday, Jan 3, 2013 at 10:00am in Berks County Memorial Gardens.
