  Willie D. Phillips, 68, Oneonta, retired employee with Northern Propane, died Nov. 3, 1988, at Carraway Methodist Medical Center, Birmingham. A native of Blount County, a member of Union Hill Bapptist church, and a veteran of WW II, he was a son of the late William David and Goldie Green Phillips. Surviving are his wife, Lucille Lowry Phillips; son Steve Phillips and daughter Carolyn Hamby, both of Rt. 3, Oneonta; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers Melborn Phillips, Rt. 2, Oneonta, Quincy Phillips, Pinson; sister Maydell Guthrie, Boaz. Rev. Jack Redfearn conducted funeral Nov. 5 from King's Valley Chapel. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery.  [The Blount Countian, November 1988]    Buried: Inscription: Pvt US Army, WWII
