Velma M. Jones
Velma May Jones, daughter of Leslie E. and Bessie Stafford Holmes, was born May 26, 1917 at Republic, Kansas, and died January 20, 2000 at the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, Kansas at the age of 82 years.
She received her education in the public schools.
She was a homemaker.
She was united in marriage to Walter L. Jones on September 14, 1963.
She was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly of the World Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter L. Jones, a step-son, Charles Jones, a sister and five brothers.
She is survived by a stepson, Richard Jones of Greeley, Colorado, three brothers, Lee Holmes of Byron, Nebraska, Irvin "Bill" Holmes of Rosamond, California, and Kenneth Holmes of Waco, Texas.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 25, 2000 at the Bachelor-Falkner-Dart-Surber Memorial Chapel, Belleville, Kansas, with Rev. Rufus Bazar officiating.
Interment was made in Washington Cemetery, Republic, Kansas.
