  Belleville (KS) Telescope - 28 Jun 2001 Lee Holmes Lee Holmes of Byron, Nebraska died June 26, 2001 at the Republic County Hospital at the age of 81. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart-Surber Chapel in Belleville. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery, rural Republic. Added by Kenneth E Holmes - Lawrence Lee was born to Leslie Evert and Bessie (Stafford) Holmes on a farm near Byron NE. He was know as Lee to his family and many friends. Lee lived with and farmed with his parents for many years. When his father passed away in 1950 much of the land was sold so Lee worked as a farmhand for neighbors. Lee married Doris Faye Steinman on October 27, 1972 and no children were born to this union. The couple lived in Byron and Lee continued to work as a farmhand.
