  Thomas Sanford, called "Tom" was "killed when he was stabbed by a drunk man on the street of Paintsville on Christmas Day" according to Louise Hardiman's compilation of the F. M. Stafford family, printed in 1980. Tom had one child. Tom worked with his father as a farmer and cattle trader.
