Opal Stafford Alls, 87, of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, September 10, 1997 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born in Staffordsville, VA on December 25,1909 to the late Edgar and Lonnie Stafford. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Mark R. Alls, her step-mother, Gladys Stafford; and two sisters, Thelma M. Barton and Glenna Barton. She retired from the Tailor Shop at VPI & SU after many years of service; she was a longtime member of the Blacksburg United Methodist Church; and also a member of the Revived Rebekah Lodge No. 100. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Palmer Price of Blacksburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Becky Alls of Blacksburg, Curtis and Betsy Alls of Raleigh, NC; Nine grandchildren, Vickie McClintock of Camden, SC, Joann Compton, Katherine Waters, Karen Cook , all of Christiansburg, Tim Alls, Peyton Alls, both of Raleigh, NC, Christie Haas of Boone, NC, Tracey Price of Alexandria, and Travis Price of Blacksburg; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Reba S. Enoch of Roanoke, Ruth S. Spurr of San Diego, CA; and a brother, Ralph Stafford of Staffordsville, Va. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 12,1997 at 2 p.m. in the Blacksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Herbert Hobbs officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. In the lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 200 Progress St., Blacksburg, Va 24060 or the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department, 2700 Prices Fork Road, Blacksburg, Va 24060. Friends may call anytime after 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 11,1997 and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with a memorial service conducted by the Revived Rebekah Lodge at 7:30 p.m. at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
