  Education: College, Graduate Work Virginia Kathleen Stafford was a graduate of Emory and Henry College and did graduate work at the University of Chicago and George Peabody College. She was a schoolteacher for many yeare and was a chuch director of Christianeducation for many years. She was a staff member of the United Methodist Board of Discipleship in Nashville for 31 years, serving as director of education for older adults and the homebound until her retirement in 1975. In 1935 she wrote the booklet "Older Adults in the Church" and later co-authored "Fun for Older Adults. In 1973 she wrote "Creative Activities for Older Adults" Virginia was a fellow of the National Gerontological Society. She was active in the National Interfaith Coalition on Aging, and was a member of the governing board of the National Voluntary Organization for Independent Living for the Aging. She participated in the 1961 and 1971 White House Conferences on Aging. In 1972 she was a United States delegate to the International Gerontological Congress held in the Soviet Union.
