  JAMES EDWARD STONE was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth "Betsy" Stafford Stone of Lewis County, Kentucky. His brothers and sisters were- Mary Celeste Stone, Ezekial Stone, John Edward Stone, Calista Stone, William H. Stone, Sanford Jackson Stone Sr., Eddy Stone, Thomas Stone, Mary A. Stone, Ralph Stone and Minerva Stone. James Edward Stone and Miss Marietta Blankenship, daughter of William and Virginia Jane "Jennie" Stafford Blankenship, were married in 1857 in Lewis County, Kentucky. They were the parents of six children- daughter Calista Jane Stone who married James Edward "Jim Doc" Roe (my gg grandparents), Mary Belle Stone who married Erastus Wayne Lewis, Ezekial Stone, Sylvester "Coon" Stone who married Myrtie Mary McGlone, William R. Stone and Thomas Perry Stone of Greenup County, Kentucky. The 1970 Federal Census lists James, age 43, as "Married to Marietta and Farming." "Jas" died at the age of 80 on April 3, 1907, at Laurel, Lewis County, Kentucky. He was buried at the Stone Family Cemetery, along side many of his family members, Scott's Branch, Lewis County, Kentucky.
