Earl Smith Stafford, 85, or Detmold St., Lonaconing, died Monday, March 26, 2007, at WMHS Braddock Campus, Cumberland,
Born Jan 31, 1922, in Lonaconing he was the son of the late Thomas Thompson Stafford and Jeanette (Sexton) Stafford,
He was preceded in death by one sister Jennie Preston and six brothers, Alex, Henry, Thomas Walter, Harold and Robert Stafford.
He was retired from Westvaco where he was the Lubrication Inspector and Repairman, He also worked for the Celanese in warp knitting. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for over 55 years, and served in the Army during World War II as an Infantry Sergeant, He was a past Master and 58 year member of the Georges Creek Valley Lodge 161 AF & AM, masonry was his life, a live member of Alvin C. Neat Post 5280 WFW, Lonaconing, a live member of Victory Post 155 American Legion, Westernport, a life member of the AARP 2400 and AARP Bowling League, Lonaconing Senior Citizens Frostburg Senior citizens who he also bowler with.
Past Patron of Martha Washington Chapter 10 Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Past Matron and Patrons Association of Western.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Bradley) Stafford, Lonaconing; one daughter; Jeanette Devlin, and Husband, Daniel, of Ellicott City; two sons, Bradley Stafford, and wife Kathy, of LaVale and Steven Stafford, and wife, Susan, of Westernport; grandchildren, Kristi and Ross Delovitchl, of Silver Spring, Jull Devlin, of Blacksburg, Erin Devlin, of Ellicott City, Mindy, Melissa and Megan Stafford, of LaVale, matt and Stacia Stafford, of Cumberland, Jeremy Stafford and Charlene, of Westernport, and Kelsey Stafford, of Westernport; two great grandchildren, Cailya Stafford and William Delovitch; one sister, Elizabeth Hollingsworth, of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews, Since Earl didn't have many hobbies he enjoyed spending time with his many grandchildren
Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home P.A. (www.eichhorn-mckenziefh.com), Lonaconing, on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m.
The Georges Creek Valley Lodge 161 AF & AM will hold a memorial service on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tom Morgan officiating.
